International Collaborative to Address Research Priorities in HIV and Rehabilitation
The Canada-United Kingdom HIV and Rehabilitation Research Collaborative (CUHRRC) was formed in October 2009 with the goal of developing an international collaborative research agenda to address research priorities in HIV and rehabilitation through establishing partnerships with researchers, clinicians, and community organizations in Canada and the UK.
The CUHRRC is based on the belief that forming partnerships and exchanging knowledge among countries with individuals living with HIV experiencing similar types of disability is a first step in bridging widespread clinical knowledge in the United Kingdom with the strong research foundation fostered by the Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation (CWGHR) in Canada.
The CUHRRC is collectively pursuing a variety of research initiatives to address research priorities in HIV and rehabilitation, some of which include: exploring the prevalence of disability and rehabilitation services use among people living with HIV, conducting a policy analysis of rehabilitation services access between Canada and the UK, and establishing a formalized 'research bank' of ideas for future work. Recently, CWGHR received funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada to support a modest amount of coordination of CUHRRC activities.
