Research
The availability of better drug treatments means many people with HIV are now living longer. But many are also living with significant disability.
Rehabilitation offers significant potential for improving quality of life, but current research in the area of rehabilitation and HIV is very limited.
CWGHR is committed to increasing research in this area. Our approach is cross-disciplinary and cross-sector. We bring together individuals with HIV, researchers, clinicians, policymakers and community organizations in the HIV, rehabilitation and disability communities. Together we are:
- identifying research priorities on disability and rehabilitation related to HIV
- advocating for increased funding for research in rehabilitation
- increasing collaboration between the HIV, rehabilitation and disability research communities
- improving dissemination of existing research, and
- developing strategies to integrate research into clinical practice and effective policies.
This section of the website provides information on current CWGHR research initiatives. A selection of research studies and reports in the area of HIV and rehabilitation is available in the Resources section of this website.
